First direct international flight lands at Sylhet airport
The first direct flight from Dubai landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport, The flight came in on a code-share with domestic flight carrier Regent Airways.
Cheap Budget carrier Flydubai first launched its direct flight from Sylhet to Dubai in 2015 but ofcourse had to delay operations due to Bangladesh Authorities not having the proper refueling stations and proper ground support. The government constructed a new refueling station in 2016 and now we are moving forwards looks like.
The Air Travel minister said the government has taken huge steps forward to upgrade Sylhet airport, also including allocation of funds to upgrade the runway. we all know why this was delayed for so long due to the only Fact that the Bangladesh Biman Airlines would just go out of business as majority of the UK passengers prefer a direct flight from London Heathrow which is currently only provided by Biman Airlines.
The first direct flight from Dubai landed in Sylhet at 15:05pm with 140 passengers on board and returned same day after refueling at 17.30pm with 169 passengers. Result!
